It’s a family affair here at Book Lovers and this week we introduce the newest member of the team - Luke. Here are some bookish questions and answers by way of introduction.
What was the first book you read?
The first book i remember reading as a child was Roald Dahl’s ‘The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me’. The reason I remember it so clearly is struggling to get through it because the font was so small. I have never needed glasses so I think I was just being lazy! I remember thinking it was a really grown up book.
Do you have a favourite Book?
Even though my passion for fiction began with Stephen King my favourite book (if i have to choose just one - so hard!) has to be ‘Magician’ by Raymond E. Feist. It is an excellent example of High Fantasy and started me on a journey into Fantasy literature. I’m a sucker for epic fantasy novels that span multiple volumes.
Who is your favourite author?
My older brother had a very large collection of science fiction and fantasy novels and he suggested a book which ended up cementing my love of reading for years to come. He recommended I read ‘The Gunslinger’ by Stephen King. I read solidly into the night by torch light beneath the covers of my bed to make sure my parents wouldn’t catch me awake past bedtime. I spent the following months reading every Stephen King book i could get my hands on especially those which tie into The Dark Tower story. There was a brief moment where i could say that I had read everything he had written but he releases novels so regularly that it’s a struggle to keep up!
What was the last book you read?
With our 14 month old daughter joining the BookLoverGifts family last year it’s been harder and harder to find the time to read. So discounting the gripping ‘That’s Not My Teddy’ (a real page-turner and what a twist!) the last book I read was ‘Sapiens’ by Yuval Noah Harari. It is a history of humanity from our humble beginnings to the modern day. It is as funny as it is informative!
