A miniature "vest pocket" dictionary - possibly from the early 20th century.
E.F.G. Series stood for "English, French, German," the primary languages initially offered in the set.
This series was highly popular because it was "self-pronouncing," using a simple system of phonetic marks that made it accessible to the general public and students. Eyre & Spottiswoode were prestigious publishers in London, which is why these tiny books were so well-constructed and have survived so long.
- E. F. G. Series - Compiled by E. H. Truslove, Printed by Eyre & Spottiswoode in Great Britain - no date
- Revised and enlarged edition containing over 27,000 references
- Hardback with green grained leatherette (imitation leather) and gilt gold lettering
- 618 pages
Condition: good: scuffing to cover and spine. Names to front and back. Can see webbing first couple of pages but feels like a strong copy. Age related marks to end pages.
